Howard was born in 1946 on the Gower Peninsula, and Educated at Plumpton and Harper Adams agricultural Colleges, Swansea University (BA Hons in Ancient History) and Oxford University.

Howard took up photography in the early 1960's and in 1964 had his first photograph published on the front page of the local Swansea Paper 'The Evening post).

Throughout the 1970's and 1980's howard's interest in photography was maintained but committed to educational pursuits and family commitments meant photography would take a back seat.

With his interest in archaeology and Egypt in particular, howard has been travelling to Egypt since the early 1990's and has had many unique opportunities to capture the essence of this special country. In the past few years, with developing digital media and easier access to high resolution SLR cameras, howard's work and interest on capturing his experiences on digital media has incrased expotentially.

 

Howard's experience and interest over the many years are varied and include some of the following areas.

 

Swimming and Surfing (ex National swimmer and one of the original long board riders in Wales of the 1960's)

Climbing and Mountain walking (Mountain Leadership Summer certificate 1976)

Communications officer 20 years in Royal Naval Reserve

Weather anomalies and Solar Research

Survival and Preparedness (has a run a website on this subject for over 12 years)

 

Howard has two grown up daughters and a grandson and tutors in Archaeology and Coptic Studies at the School of Continuing Adult Education at Swansea University
